La borsa-scatola – The bag-box

Credo di non essere l’unica ad avere una incomprensibile passione per la scatole in tutte le loro forme, colori e materiali. 

I think I’m not the only one having an incomprehensible passion for boxes in all their shapes, colors and materials.

Credo esistano sofisticate ricerche di marketing su quanto il packaging influenzi l’acquisto ed io ammetto che funziona.

Poi non so veramente che farmene e le conservo a pacchi in cantina cercando di riciclarle quando preparo i regali di Natale.

I think there are sophisticated marketing research on how packaging influences the purchases and it works.

Then I don’t really know what to do with them and I keep them in the cellar trying to recycle for Christmas presents.

Ho scelto tra la mia collezione la scatola che preferivo, l’ho aperta e usata come schema di taglio.

Ho tagliato il termoadesivo seguendo la sagoma e l’ho stirato sul tessuto.

I choose my favorire box from my collection, I opened it and I used it as pattern.

I cut the thermoadhesive following the shape and ironed it on the fabric.

Ho tagliato i margini calcolando di rigirare la stoffa verso l’interno per avere tutti bordi rifiniti.

Ho incollato tutto con un mastice trasparente, un tipo di colla che sto usando ovunque, permette di avere una buona resa senza “sporcare” troppo.

I cut the margins by calculating to turn the fabric inward to have all edges finished.

I glued everything with a transparent putty, a type of glue I’m using everywhere: it allows to have a good yield without “dirtying” too much.

Con lo stesso tessuto ho cucito un sacchetto con nastro da inserire nella scatola.

Un paio di borchie, una catenella e un manico in tessuto, ed è fatta!

With the same fabric I sewed a bag with a ribbon to insert into the box.

A pair of studs, a chain and a fabric handle, and it’s done!

Mi piace la mia borsa-scatola, ma soprattutto mi piace l’abbinata con la gonna.

Per fare la gonna ho tagliato e bordato con tagliacuci 2 rettangoli L100 X H 90.

Ho piegato e cucito 6 cm sopra, come tasca per infilare l’elastico, e 6 cm sotto come orlo.

Decisamente la cosa più semplice che potessi cucire, ma quando il tessuto è già “tanto” di suo, va bene un  modello semplice.

I like my bag-box, but I like the combination with the skirt the most.

To make the skirt I cut and edged with overlock 2 rectangles L100 X H 90.

I folded and sewed 6 cm above, as a pocket to insert the elastic, and 6 cm below as a hem.

Definitely the simplest thing I could sew, but when the fabric is already “enough” , a simple pattern is fine.
