Carnival time

Adoro il Carnevale! Adoro lasciare andare la creatività per creare abiti nuovi ogni anno. Grazie a questa passione ho iniziato a cucire!

I love Carnival! I love the creativity getting out to create new clothes every year. Thanks to this passion I started sewing!

Quando mia suocera mi ha regalato questo tessuto sapevo benissimo cosa ne avrei fatto,  anche se non sapevo in che forma. Ogni tanto stendevo il tessuto sul tavolo lo guardavo e lo rimettevo nel baule, finché mi sono decisa e ho tagliato.

When my mother-in-law gave me this fabric I knew exactly what I would have done, even if I didn’t know in what shape. From time to time I put the fabric on the table, I looked at it and put it back in the bench until I decided and I cut it.

Era uno di quei momenti in cui mi prende lo schizzo, passa la paura, taglio, senza sapere cosa sto facendo, e mi fido del mio istinto.

It was one of those moments when the ideas come out, the fear passes, I cut, without knowing what I’m doing, and I simply trust on my instinct.

Il corpetto è sagomato con fianchino davanti e dietro,  manica  3/4, rouge a incrocio con pizzo, balza con pizzo. Per la rouge ho disegnato due cerchi, uno per l’attaccatura alla manica e uno decentrato in modo che il risultato finale fosse più lungo da un lato. La balza l’ho tagliata a caso pensando che tanto l’avrei arricciata adattando la misura.

The bodice is shaped with front and back side, 3/4 sleeve , a cross-lace rouge, a lace frill. For the rouge I designed two circles, one for the sleeve and one decentralized so that the final result was longer on one side. I cut the leap below randomly thinking that I would have curled it by adapting the measure.

La gonna è composta da due gonne a ruota unite con cinturone ad elastico.

La gonna a metà altezza è una ruota intera con una punta più lunga sul davanti. La gonna lunga fino a terra è in quattro pannelli. Sotto c’è una sottogonna in tulle rigido a reggere il peso (ho qualche kg di tessuto a cui dare forma!).

The skirt is made of two flared skirts joined with an elastic belt.

The skirt in the middle is a whole wheel with a longer tip on the front. The long skirt is made of four panels. Under the skirt there is a petticoat in rigid tulle to support the weight (I have few kilos of fabric to shape!).

Mi sono divertita da subito a far volteggiare il pesante tessuto! Qualche piroetta in giardino è ormai una tradizione!!

I immediately enjoyed twisting the heavy fabric! Some pirouette in the garden has become a tradition !!

La mia doppia anima richiede il suo giusto spazio e non posso negaglierlo!

Ho sfoggiato un genere steampunk anche lo scorso anno(Mardi Gras; Mardi Gras … Making of); questa volta volevo uno stile meno dark e più “incerto”.

My twin soul requires its space and I cannot deny it!

I showed off a steampunk style also last year(Mardi Gras; Mardi Gras … Making of); this time I wanted a “less dark” style and more “uncertain”.

Mancano un bel po’ di accessori che sono in fase di elaborazione e che spero di condividere mercoledì.

There are a lot of accessories still missing, that are in “ work in progress” phase: I hope to share them on Wednesday.

Anche l’abito per mio marito è in lavorazione, ma quello ve lo mostro direttamente da Venezia.
