La gonna double-face – The double-faced skirt

I tessuti damascati scintillanti sono la mia debolezza! Li vedo appesi al negozio e, come una gazza ladra, finisco per comprarli… ma con quanti abiti scintillanti può vivere una donna? Nel mio armadio il luccichio non manca di sicuro e ho il vizio di non aspettare il veglione di capodanno per indossarlo (poi ti chiedi perché al supermercato ti fissano??!!).

The sparkling damask fabrics are my weakness! I see them hanging from the shop and, like a magpie, I buy them … but with how many shining clothes can live a woman ? In my closet the twinkle is not missing for sure and I have the use to wear it without waiting for the New Year’s Eve party (then you wonder why in the supermarket they gaze you ??!!).

Se poi entrambi i lati sono splendidamente luccicanti perché dover scegliere? Con la mia gonna double-face avró due gonne in una. Scegliendo un modello con elastico in vita i veri problemi sono due: le cuciture laterali e l’orlo.

If then both sides are amazing shimmering why should I choose? With my double-faced skirt I will have two skirts in one. Choosing a model with elastic waistband the real problems are two: the side seams and the hem.

Ho risolto facilmente le cuciture laterali con una cucitura alla francese; usando un filo in colore diverso per i due lati alla fine la cucitura è quasi invisibile.

I easily solved the side seams with a French seam; by using a thread in a different colors for the two sides at the end the seam is almost invisible.

L’orlo è stato un po’ più complicato, probabilmente per il mio non bene definito rapporto con la nuova tagliacuci. L’ho risolto con un orlo a due fili, arrotolato stretto, facendo prevalere un filo argento

The hem was a little bit more complicated, probably because of my not clear relationship with the new serger. I solved it with a narrow rolled hem overcoming a silver sewing thread.

Dato che la mia tagliacuci è praticamente appena uscita dalla sua scatola, ho passato una buona giornata a studiare. Questo video tutorial è in inglese, ma io l’ho trovato utilissimo!
